Youth to the Max
- See schedule on web link
We need the enthusiasm of the young. In it is reflected something of the original joy God had in creating humankind. The young know how to express this joy in their own special way. The young are searching for God. They are searching for the meaning of life. In this search, they cannot help but encounter the Church. And the Church cannot help but encounter the young. - John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope
We, the youth, are tomorrow’s hope. We will build the world of tomorrow and the Church of tomorrow.
Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church is dedicated to help us in our life right now and as we step into our future.
Our youth group, “Youth to the Max”, is a group of friends of high school age. We have fun, serve others, and pray together.
Our meetings on Tuesday in Room 2 evening at 7:17 cover a range of topics from decision making to understanding the Bible. We always start with a game or activity to begin the conversation or introduce the topic. We talk about things like stress, parents, family trust, dating, relationships, depression, and many other issues important to us.
Together we have traveled to World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada, with stops at Ground Zero in New York and Disney World in Florida. We help with the Halloween celebration for younger children and participate in the parish festival.
Each year we look forward to Youth Day at the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. There we attend seminars, pray together, and attend a huge youth rally.
We take snow trips and beach trips, have camp outs, retreats and service projects, and just have fun being together.
Our core team plans and facilitates these events and suggests topics for meetings. Being a member of the core team is great leadership experience.
On Sundays the Youth Choir sings and plays musical instruments for the
5:30PM Mass. We are also the greeters, lectors, and ushers at that Mass.
Our new parish hall has a large room dedicated to youth. It will have state of the art audio-video equipment including an HDTV big screen television, dolby digital surround sound, incredible audio components, individual computer workstations, and a game area. We can’t wait!
As we said before, all high school aged youth are welcome at our meetings every Wednesday at 7:00PM in Room 2. Bring your friends even if they aren’t Catholic.
